Tales of the Wild

Tales of the wild

This is a commissioned piece I have completed for a delightful company in Vancouver.

Tales of the Wild

A company I have worked with in the past.

Their store is about as wonderful and charming as the family behind it. Vancouver 001

After completing the above piece they asked me to create something for their Woodsman natural product line and I happily agreed.

Mr. Owl comission

owl 005Here is a little number I did. This commission was done on a 9X12  pine box using graphite. I enjoyed it very much. I am digging the animals sketches on wood! He might have friends in the near future.

If you’re interested in a commission feel free to write me  at  Aprilalayne00@hotmail.com

IRIS

Let me introduce Iris.

Pencil Sketch. Roughly scanned and edited.

She is another doodle I have come up with. A lovely lady with her power animal and motivating foliage.

Inspiration is power animals and floriography.

This is the first time I attempted to softly color with Gimp. I am not the best at it but I am working on it  but here are her rough black and whites.

Thanks for taking a look see and I hope everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Amping Up Arts & Crafts with Power Tools & Bones

This is a new line I will be creating for Etsy.com,  Art in the Park in Westminster MD (hopefully)and perhaps other vendor type shows in the future.

I have always loved the look of antlers, the unique shapes and colors and no 2 are ever alike. Coming from a West Virgina back ground I noticed antler art is usually the interest of county folk and rustic lodge decor type and that inst a style I particularly  care for.

Being a lover of Etsy, I paroozed though and found a fantastic shop selling their antler finds. I dont want to give away my little secret but Mark of hiddentreasures4u.etsy.com  is a super friendly seller with reasonable prices! After a few conversations he helped me start my new collection.

So with this new collection I tried to create a shabby chic, mod pieces of original artwork using naturally shed antlers.      For this piece in particular I used a 16 X 20 piece of sanded down pine, watered down acrylic and graphite to create the white rabbit and with the help of my father, some power tools  and an antler I created the Jackalope.

I am working on my next antler inspired piece today! I going back and forth between an owl or a heavily fringed girl… opinions?
